چکیده

Objective: The aim of the study was to investigate preventive effects Taurine against 2,3,7,8-tetracholorodibenzo-p-dioxin (TCDD)-induced organ damage in rats. environmental toxin TCDD has a high toxicity animal and human tissues. is an amino acid found cells that antioxidant properties anti-inflammatory. As result, potential effect taurine on oxidative stress caused by investigated rat liver kidney tissues measuring glutathione (GSH), superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity, thiobarbituric reactive substances (TBARS) levels.
Material Method: Adult male Wistar rats (250-300 g, 12-13 weeks, n = 32) were randomly allocted into four groups (n 8/group): Control, TCDD, TAU, TCDD+TAU. and/or administered via gavage doses 2 μg/kg/week 200 mg/kg/day, respectively.
Result Discussion: results showed decreasing levels GSH SOD activity increasing TBARS. treatment significantly reduced TBARS (p

Evaluation of the effects of taurine on cisplatin-induced kidney injury and oxidative stress in male rats

Introduction: Cisplatin is used as a chemotherapeutic agent for the treatment of human ovarian and testicular cancers. This study was designed to investigate the protective role of taurine against cisplatin-induced kidney injury. Methods: Male Wistar rats were divided into 4 groups (n=8) (1) saline-treated group (2) cisplatin-treated group (10 mg/kg, i.p.), (3) group that received taurine (2...

P-40: Silymarin Prevents and Protects from the Doxorubicin-induced Oxidative Stress in Testis and Improves Sperm Quality in Rats

Background: Doxorubicin (DOX) as an antracycline is used antineoplastic agents against tumors. Although DOX has been recognized as a potent and effectiveness anticancer compound, there are however plenty of reports indicating its toxicity against the heart, liver and testis, which hampers its clinical use. This study aimed to investigate the preventive and protective effects of Silymarin (SMN) ...

Effect of chitosan oligosaccharide on 2,3,7,8-tetrachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin-induced oxidative stress in mice.

The abilities of two types of chitosan oligosaccharides, chitosan oligosaccharide I (1-kDa<MW<3-kDa) and chitosan oligosaccharide II (3-kDa<MW<5-kDa), to prevent 2,3,7,8-tetrachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin (TCDD)-induced oxidative stress were examined in ICR mice. Chitosan oligosaccharide I had no effect on TCDD-induced alterations in lipid peroxidation and glutathione S-transferase activity or liver w...

Antioxidant and Protective Effects of Plant Extract against Deltamethrin-induced Oxidative Stress in Liver and Kidney – A Review

Deltamethrin is one of the most commonly used Pyrethroid around the world. Oxidative stress is one of the most deltamethrin toxicity mechanisms. According to many studies, it has been shown that the liver, due to its role, is the main source of accumulation of high concentrations of deltamethrin metabolites. Also the kidney plays a very important role in regulating homeostasis of the body and r...

Antioxidant Effect of Ardeh and Honey Combination on Ethanol-induced Oxidative stress in Liver and Kidney of Rats

Background: The pathogenesis of ethanol in the liver and kidney is associated with an increase in free radicals and oxidative stress that leads to structural and functional abnormalities in these vital organs. Methods: Forty-eight male wistar rats were placed in eight groups and were treated as follows: control group (normal saline), group of ethanol (4 g/ kg), three doses of Ardeh and honey co...
